Theirs Is the Glory

Not great in spite of, but because of it's simple storyline. The gathered-together shots succeed in producing a documentairy feeling, which is an impressive achievement because it's reenacted by not even actors, but the involved soldiers and Dutch folk themselves. I'm astounded by how the producer apparently got so many people to relive these terrifying events in summer '45 (!). Oh - The militairy reporter life-recording his observations in vinyl amidst the flying mortars is a hoot.

This is good for the historical content but it feels a lot lashed together by paracord and guntape. Still works though for the history nut.

It's a interesting British war documentary, reenacting the Battle of Arnhem. They got the gritty visuals down alright, but the presentation as a whole lacked personality, a thread to make one care any deeper about the film. We just go from training to day 1, 2, 3, and so on, and that's about it.
