One of the stronger performances Elissa Landi did during the sound period. Even a young Laurence Olivier does a fine job, even if there wasn't that much chemistry between him and the lady. Lionel Barrymore came across too corny as the Russian Baron taking up too much space in the process. The main problem keeping The Yellow Ticket (1931) from becoming a great movie was the writing. Dialogue wasn't impressive at all, and took away from what could have been exciting scenes.
