The Wrath of God

The third act goes full-on schlock with a knife hidden in a cross, a tree tied to a car as a battering ram, and a man crushed to death by a giant stone cross. The Wrath of God is a comedic anti-western that is mostly a good time. It drags when the forced love story is the focus, but besides that, it is a charming, quick-moving, original story. Mitchum kinda phones it in, but he really didn't have much to work with character-wise, and it isn't needed.

Is this the movie that The Last Movie was shooting?

Enjoyable action adventure distinguished by a delightfully madcap sense of humour, and an uncharacteristically loose performance from Mitchum, who is a lot of fun as the machine gun wielding defrocked priest. Occasionally wavers between GUNGA DIN and blaxploitation sensibilities, but when it does work, it is a hell of a lot of fun.

Slight but fun revolutionary adventure. Mitchum is not at his best here and it could probably stand to lose about ten minutes.
