1h 33m
A small desert town has been harassed for months by a gang of drag racers, but so far no one has done anything to stop them. One day, a ghostly black car shows up, challenging members of the group to race, then killing them one by one. Neither the gang nor the police can catch the car or its driver, but some investigating into the gang's past may reveal just who's behind all this. (imdb)

I would get the shits weekly from Big Kay's drive-in restaurant. Another 80s bonanza of atrocious hair, cheesy gooey music and punk villains who are either 18 or 37. God bless Clint Howard, the People rating movies on Prime were so busy averting their eyes from the screen they missed boobies. Peeling out of the parking lot in the ugliest suppose to be cool car I’ve ever seen to add The Wraith to the tome of PG boobs.

This felt very different to my memory of watching it back in the day on VHS. There was a lot more daylight than I remember, and a lot more 80s-ness. Of course it was the actual 80s when I first saw it, so it could have felt modern, probably. And how could I forget about Sherilyn Fenn, but remember Clint Howard? Anyway, this is daft fun, with deeply unlikeable villains and some very 80s tunes. Bonus points for a fully committed Randy Quaid. An oddly charming B-movie.

This movie has some amazing lines. "Roadblocks won't stop something that can't be stopped".

A film that's definitely stuck in time. The 80's sure gave us some "gems" when it came to bad B Movies, and this is one of them. The car deaths are easily the highlight of the film. When it blew up the warehouse, I was so caught off guard, I burst out laughing. The acting is pretty sub par, but the best display of it was by Nick Cassavetes as the bad guy, Packard. This Patrick Swayze looking motherfucker steals the show by giving no fucks whatsoever. A true 80's asshole in every possible way.

From the perspective of the tragic baddies as they get destroyed one at a time by an unstoppable spirit of vengeance driving a purple Chrysler. There's a strange satisfaction in how comically invincible this hero is, in the sense that justice is utterly inescapable. Randy Quaid pulls a "No Country" as the Sheriff who's always two steps behind the audience and accomplishes nothing but gets a third of the screentime and Sherilyn Fenn sports a sexy tan. It's a movie about destiny.

80s dude-bros versus ghost-aliens. If it doesn't quite twerk as a feature-length film, it is the best Dodge commercial of all time. (Prompting the question: was the Daytona a flawed design or a kidney-busting plot to destroy the human race?). Made me want to skate around an 80s throw-back to a 50s fastfood restaurant in zany socks while breastfeeding a young litter of Charlie Sheens...feeling nothing. Like Laura Palmer. And when you feel nothing, you can do anything. You dig, guy?

Silly combination of supernatural thriller and teen car crash movie with Sheen just before _Platoon_ made him a star. Flashy opticals and photography and a good relatives-of-the-rich-and-famous cast help make up for a confusing story and paper-thin characters.

A collection of car racing, 80s pop music, and sneers. The vengeful protagonist is frustratingly absent giving most of the screen time to a collection of gear-head baddies. And then you have Randy Quaid, who lays into his lines like a high schooler doing his first Shakespeare play. Good god is Clint Howard a weird looking dude.

Not just bad, but boring, too. A double threat! Clint Howard is the only life in this film, as he plays some sort of Steve Brule/Eraserhead hybrid.

Awesome movie, a classic..
He came back from the dead,to take his revege... The film is set in some desert area of Arizona, where Packard Walsh (Nick Cassavetes) and his gang regularly flaunt the law and generally make life unpleasant for the rest of the populace. One day, a young man going by the name of Jake (Charlie Sheen) arrives in town and begins networking with locals who are sick to death of Packard and his hangers-on. It seems that a while ago, Packard and his gang murdered a young man

Randy Quaid acted good, Sherilyn Fenn was stunningly sexy, but there was no other actor, nor character who could be given any mention. Characterizing was horrible and the story lame 80's youngster flick.

It's sad, really. I'm sure the majority of the cast of this film would like to pretend it never happened, but it did. Oh, yes...it did. And that is actually more unsettling than anything in the film.

This movie has a really bad script. The characters are very one dimensional. The actors can't make up for the weak script. Overall this film is disappointing.
