When a celebrated mystery author visits the small French coastal town of La Ciotat, she's astonished to find the disparate students of her writing workshop are bursting at the seams with inspired ideas and strong, differing opinions on the state of the world. No topic is taboo and quickly lines are drawn in the sand between the most vocal students. An unsettling admiration begins to emerge between the novelist and her volatile student as the reins of the class dangerously slip from her grasp (Strand Releasing)

I enjoyed The Workshop for its atmosphere more than anything else. Cantet (& Campillo) explore the influence of a picturesque albeit dying, post-industrial town via the students' connections to it. There are a few good conversational moments but most of the drama comes from Lucci's stifled Antonio who skirts with illicit behaviour. His final speech revealing his motives is both underwhelming and in-fitting with the theme of the film. Overall a mixed bag; a few good moments and a lot of padding.

7 genç 1 kadın öğretmen, ödev olarak yazın çalışmaya başlar. Yazar olmak isteyen gençler, cinayet romanı yaratmak isterler. İçlerinden seksi ve yakışıklı Antoine, öğretmene takıntı halde aşık olur. Öğretmen de Antoine'e ilgi duyar. Aralarındaki ilginç saplantı manyaklığa götürür. İlginç konusu ve yaz mekanlarıyla filmi izlettiriyor. Sonu havada kalsa 1 başyapıt olarak hakkı yenmiş. Hayat bu. Bazen mükemmel yaşarsın bazen de kayalıklara toslarsın.

Nice sociological portrait, but the point is so muddled that anyone can read whatever they want in it. Result: it can only be understood within the filmography of Cantet.

Too calculated to really work.

An interesting way to explore different characters and ideas. That said I'm left feeling like there wasn't much of a point - I'm not sure this really says anything about anything.
