It would rather unfair to compare the beloved classic to this 13-minute film produced nearly 30 years earlier. Suffice it to say this isn't as impressive (and doesn't make a whole lot of sense), but it's pretty nifty for its time, and the cast looks like they're having a barrel of fun.

Pretty well made but I can't say that I really liked it.

Cute and enjoyable version, which looks like it was a lot of fun to make. A little hard to follow, but that's not unexpected for the time.

Interesting how similar the costumes and sets are to the 1939 version. The people in the animal costumes were a little strange, but I enjoyed watching this.

Based on the stage show (evidenced by Imogene the Cow), this is quite a nice little adaptation - the cinematographic trickery is well done & doesn't overwhelm the story. It's a shame we'll probably never know for certain who the cast was but it must have been a delight to be involved.

First-ever OZ movie seems to be closely based on the stage show, rather than the book.

An adorable adaptation. Comparisons between this and the '39 classic are almost inevitable, especially if you grew up with that version, but this certainly manages to hold its own. It is occasionally confusing, and perhaps overly long, but still charming enough to recommend as an early family-friendly flick.
