I've never had more than two women on my radar at any one time in my life. Basically, that adds up to one spot taken by the girl I know in real life, right up until that place was permanently grabbed by my wife, and one spot for Winnie from The Wonder Years. She's always been on my mind. Once every six months my wife asks to read some of my reviews. It happened two weeks ago. Ten to one it'll happen tomorrow.

A bizarre film that starts with a nod toward the fantastical and fully dives into horror absurdity. The comedy mainly comes from Nicholson's bonkers performance, though it still is more restrained than other Mr D performances (cough Pacino cough). A really great cast of female leads get overshadowed by the juice scenes that Jack gets to dominate.

Three women strive to access a plane making life worth living, via sculpture, music and fertility. A very good cast makes the most of the amusing lines supplied by a silly but wry script exploring the perpetual tension between the sexes and the way in which this tension leads to battles over power in contemporary American life. Relies a little too heavily on special effects as the narrative progresses, but it's funnier and more interesting than most Hollywood comedies of the past few decades.

Did anyone else think the devil wasn't really all that bad a guy? I mean he set them all up in luxury etc. and really only asked that they not talk about him. So they did and sure he overreacts a tad but yeah... not sure that's what everyone else took away from this.

Making very clear how the tale of witches and witch hunters is essentially about the freeing of and fear and resentment for female sexuality. The end seems slightly compromised by leaning towards a "women having no need for men" direction, but can also be read as a depiction of how the configuration of a meaningful life changes for women when they have children. And absolutely no one else can play Jack Nicholson's role convincingly.

What a strange career George Miller has had. Mad Max, Happy Feet, Babe, and this bizarre and darkly comic hamfest that would almost fit right into Tim Burton's filmography were it scored by Danny Elfman instead of John Williams.

I've done a little bit of cherry picking in the past, a few seasons of it. One of the drawbacks you pick up on pretty quickly when picking cherries is if you eat too many you get pretty bad cherry farts... oh and you curse strangers into projectile vomiting cherry stones.

Very cool-looking (with a good score as well). Oh yes, and big fans of barfing should definitely not miss this one. By the end it all seemed a bit of a bagatelle, but it was a fair chunk of fun nonetheless (and the witches were fabulous babes, one and all). Sure enough too, Cher did plug Letterman on it (just like she told him she did).

Not particularly fun, funny, or engaging – and has no overall point - but contains some decent direction and a solid cast. Nicholson does his thing, the girls are fine but have little to get their teeth into, and some of the early men vs. women remarks are quite sharp, before drying up. The supernatural element is omnipresent but never fully explained or consistent, meaning things just seem to happen and you stop caring how or why. I mistakenly remembered this being an entertaining film.

Very strange, but pretty enjoyable. Things happen without much explanation, but the characters are so charming and charismatic that I found myself invested. I also loved that we had a Polyship that was somewhat portrayed in a positive light (the concept of a poly-amorous relationship, not the member that was Satan). The ending is absolutely insane though. I never need to say baby, Jack Nicholson cosplaying as Groot ever again.

The Witches of Eastwick was thoroughly odd in good ways and in bad. I loved the performances in this movie. The three leading ladies were fantastic. Nicholson was great as well but this movie somewhat cemented the idea that Jack Nicholson has less range than I previously thought. He fits great in certain molds but I don't think he would be able to fit as well in others. The story here was interesting. The themes of love, happiness, conservatism, magic, and many others work well some don't.

So I decided to check out this movie because everyone on imdb is comparing it very favorably to this HK Cat 3 delicacy named Erotic Ghost Story, from the director of such masterpieces as Rikki O and The Cat. I wanted to delineate a couple of things about this theory. A) These 2 movie are absolutely nothing alike, neither in their narrative structure, visual style, tone or source material. The Witches of Eastwick is more a performance piece by Nicholson than it is a good film. The action is camp and cheesy but not that funny, especially when paired with the Pfeiffer and Sarandon's sultry performances. Also Cher is there. The film definitely has its moments, but it surrounded by too much mediocrity for that fun to shine through.

Despite having my favorite actor in a role that he should be great in and two actresses I really like (Cher can go eat a dick), I found The Witches of Eastwick to be a mostly lame affair, with a bloated runtime that seriously hurts it. Even Jack's role was disappointing, but that speech at the end is great.

Sadly I did not like Jack Nicholson in this role. And there are some really cheesy special effects. I loved the performances of the three women, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer who where all just wonderful in this movie which is quite silly. The story is pretty over the top, but interesting. However the ending felt totally shortchanged. Perhaps they want to make another version someday.

This comedy-horror strikes just the right tone, walking that fine between out-and-out comedy and out-and-out horror. Most offerings in this sub-genre are one with a splash of the other, and so don't, strictly speaking, belong. This is one of the examples of the horror-comedies, which do what they're supposed to; make you laugh and scare you, sometimes at the same time.

So much fun to be had for those Nicholson fans out there, Jack grabs the role of the devil and runs with it, certainly a great excuse to showcase Nicholson's patented over-the-top "Jack" personality. The trio of women are all excellent, especially love Sarandon's repressed school marm who lets loose in the later stages of the film. Also love Cartwright's descent into lunacy, the infamous cherry pip scene is a scene not soon forgotten! Story makes little sense at the end of the day, but why carp?

This was a good movie. Not great, just good. Jack Nicholson is so much fun in this movie that it's hard not to like. Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer are fun too, but it's really Jack's show. With those eyebrows, intense eyes, and great acting skills he really should play the devil again, this time in a more serious role. "The Witches of Eastwick" is good fun for most of the movie, but the final scene of the climax is just way overdone. I recommend it, though.
