IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE THEIR LAST NAME IS DAM!

I've been hearing variations on this joke for years. That's right, people are going around telling jokes that are over a hundred years old.

Enjoyable caricaturesque vignettes, put some music and you have a standard family sitcom intro! A shame that the sketch itself is not funny

Here's a little 5 minute short directed by Edwin S. Porter for the Edison Company that is almost impenetrable to modern audiences without the cultural context of 1905. There was a postcard/lithograph craze of humorous (and sometimes vaguely risque) depictions of the Whole Dam Family.

The seemed like a pilot for a sitcom.

No big deal.

Don't know what people are complaining about.. This made me, and most of the others watching with me, laugh quite a lot. It's not sophisticated, it's not clever, but it's silly fun. Enjoy it for what it is.. Which isn't much.

I thought they were introducing the characters with funny names and then do a funny skit. The whole Dam thing is just them being introduced with placards. They were overacting and not in a funny way, and most of the names really weren't that good. Much funnier stuff produced during this period can be seen. Pass on this one.
