Maybe some people prefer a likeable Sandler, but he actually comes across as much less likeable and more sinister in an unexplainable way. But I guess a nauseating character like this fits perfectly into a nauseatingly sentimental, schmaltzy kind of film that has life-ruiningly bad cliches about romance. On top of that, the jokes feel lazily thought out, and at worst typify the worst of '90s comedy (rapping granny, wow, hahaha).

A cute film with a subtle (for him) outing from Sandler, unfairly dismissed by those that hate him (justifiably). My takeaway was Allen Covert explaining that a life chasing tail isn't all it's cracked up to be, capping it with, "All I really want is someone to hold me and tell me that everything is going to be alright." That's pretty insightful for a romantic comedy. The perspicacity is staggering considering it's a Sandler film. Read those last two words in a loud Sandler voice for full effect

Shut up. Everyone has a guilty pleasure movie and this one just happens to be mine. I think both fans and critics of Sandler can agree that he is at his most charming here (it helps that he and Barrymore have great chemistry together). The film knows that it's cheesy and just has fun with it. Because of this, it can poke fun at the 80's while having nostalgia for the decade. The jokes (mostly) work, the music is great and the ending is too ridiculous not to love.

Amusing with a quality soundtrack, this film really does have some nice moments. Yes it's predictable and does nothing new or original, but it has enough charm to be enjoyable and fun. Even Barrymore's bulldog like face doesn't ruin the movie too much!

Dang it. :( I'm so sorry. But the 80s nostalgia is delightful, and Drew Barrymore is unbelievably cute, and their chemistry is unreal. If it redeems my honor any, I haven't seen this for 15 years, so maybe my rating has since matured, if I gave it a rewatch...

Sandler more tolerable than ever, and the gig for the movie is original. An ode to the 80s that is a bit scrambled, but it did not miss the spot with the bits on the terribly kitsch weddings of the time. Not over the top love story but it works enough

Enjoyable in the 1990's and still enjoyable today. Colourful, trashy visuals , feel good and a great soundtrack. A predicable storyline but the 2 leads are so likeable , that flaw can be forgiven.

Pretty nice romcom deal; didn’t see it until it was about 25 years old but in 1998 I imagine its more chick friendly vibe contrasted well with the more laddish energy of The Waterboy.

The Wedding Singer is one of Sandler's best most charming performances to date. Despite being predictable as Rom-Coms tend to be this movie is quiet gripping throughout and will have you rooting for Robbit and Julia throughout. It has a great soundtrack brought up by a couple hilarious Adam Sandler originals. This movie leans heavily into the comedy in the first half and the romance/drama in the second half and it works really well.

The Wedding Singer is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. This was also the movie that started edging him out of crass humor and more into family-friendly humor. The costuming and music in this movie are perfect. They do tend to lean into some of the 80's humor with the subtlety of a demolition crew but overall it doesn't hurt the film too much. This, like many early Sandler movies, is a movie that I can watch again and again. The supporting cast is fantastic here too.

The perfect vehicle for Sandler to indulge his musicality and violent outbursts, and with a supporting cast (Glave is particularly good as the very unlikeable 'Glenn Gulia' as is Steve Buscemi as the drunk 'David Veltri) that redirects Sandler's energy so he doesn't completely go off the rails. It is a well thought out story that is well told. The soundtrack is fantastic.

This is the moment that Sandler toned down his act, went soft and aimed for mass acceptance. He was still playing an immature man-child prone to aggressive outbursts, but this time there is a relatable motivation (re: he got dumped), and his character is warmer and 'cuddlier'. Much of its appeal derives from its period setting, but they don't do much with it other than present obvious signposts for nostalgia and/or ridicule. Sandler's chemistry with Barrymore ultimately sells it.

This conventional romantic comedy is laced with a few chuckles but fairly forgettable for the most part. The new wave soundtrack is first-rate though, and thankfully Sandler tones down his regular shtick to offer a more palatable performance than usual.

The story follows wedding singer Robbie Hart who enters a deep depression after he's dumped at the alter by his bitch of a girlfriend Linda (Angela Featherstone). Then he meets the stunning waitress Julia (Drew Barrymore). She is about to be married to a total idiot Glen Gulia (Matthew Glave), who is so dumb, he doesn't see what's funny about the fact that Julia will know be Julia Gulia. Robbie thinks she deserves more, and, well, you know the rest.

One of Sandler's funniest comedies, the Wedding Singer tells the story of a Wedding Singer stood up at the altar and losing his faith in love. His self-destructive journey puts him at odds with Matthew Glave, Sandler's greatest film nemesis outside of Happy Gilmore's Shooter McGavin. Watch for the film's ridiculous airborne climax featuring a cameo from Billy Idol himself.

The first part of it is really funny. As it goes farther and farther along it becomes less about the comedy and more about the budding romance between Sandler and Barrymore. They are a nice enough looking couple and have good chemistry on screen but it can be a tad too sappy for my tastes. At least it gives the viewer a healthy amount of 80s nostalgia throughout which is awesome in the weirdest way possible.

The first half of the movie is really damn wholesome and the leads click in a way they often don't in romances. The film also has a lot of solid gags, especially the depression induced tangents Sandler pulls in some songs. On the second half, the film starts to fall into awful cliches portraying anyone against the core relationship as laughably despicable as possible in a way that's more eyerolling than funny, which makes the core conflict in the relationship just come across as ham-fisted.
