The Way of Lost Souls

Oh my, what a performance by Pola Negri in her one British silent! A silent with a soundtrack of music, background noise and some humming. Negri wasn't suited for the English speaking talkies because of her heavy accent, so this was her last hurrah on a English production during her prime as an actress. And she really nailed it! A bar whore who gets a break of the decent simple life, but her past won't leave her alone and it's a direct and wonderfully expressed tragedy with lots of ambiance!
