The Wall

Solid directing and acting but the story went too deep to the inner self. It's got a good message though they could invent something less depressive and more eventful plot.

Interesting premise but a little bit slow going and I am not keen on voice over storytelling.

Though quite scenic, this is slow and quiet. A sci-fi/supernatural drama/mystery. Don't look for questions to be answered.

Beautifully shot, but really the dispassioned voice over was monotone and too descriptive and the thematic material seemed a bit on the cliche side what with the 'communing with nature vs brutality' thing and the 'connections vs isolation' thing. Neither were taken to interesting places. But it was alright I guess. I did not hate it. *just another perfect film to watch in pandemic isolation.

Quite a lot going on, despite not much actually going on. A bit too slow for it to really captivate me but interesting enough to make me think.

Hyper-realistic German brooding over the futility of existence with a meticulous commitment to seeing the drudgery through to its end. And while the film's pacing reflects the underlying themes, there is something ultimately unsatisfying about a piece of art that is purposefully hollow, empty, and alone. A must-see for fans of Herzog, but this is definitely not my cup of tea.
