The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari

A standard but ultimately rather affecting documentary about people who suddenly find themselves struggling to survive in the midst of disaster.

For sure this is a nightmare scenario, and of course you know the volcano is going to erupt any moment but it does not make the wait any less anxiety provoking for the viewer. While this is mostly nothing more than a 'talking heads' documentary - it does annoy me that 'actual' footage is not clearly differentiated from 're-enactment' - it is evident that survivors such as Jesse Langford and rescuers such as Mark Law are the personification of what humans can do in extreme situations.
