A bit hammy and the story is pretty dumb but there are some great martial arts. I wanted more of that trippy stuff from the beginning with the weird music.

In terms of the martial arts sequences, this has some quite impressive fights, and several of them don't even involve Sammo, who only appears to be the main character here. Like many of these genre films, the plot is thin and sometimes goes off in very weird directions (attempted wedding night rape vs dressing as Dracula). Mostly enjoyable for the already-fans; it might be a bit drawn out for non-fans.

This movie has some crazy tonal shifts and choppy story telling but at least the comedy is amusing and the martial art fight get better as the film goes on. The end fight was one of the best old school fight scenes I've seen in a long time.

Martial arts cinema was always plagued by erratic characters and slapstick humor, but The Victim, especially, got me thinking about the contrast between the extraordinary self-discipline required for Kung Fu, and the extremely emotional impulsiveness of the movie characters. Of course, this helps to lend a film like this camp value, and the fights are quite good (good stick fighting), but higher-end Shaw Brothers scripts are obviously superior to this stupidity.

Sammo and Beardy rock the house.
