Been too long since I've seen the two Thanhouser versions of The Vicar of Wakefield, which came out in 1910 and 1917, to compare this British 1916 version, but I have a feeling it's about even. Fairly well shot for the time, but lacking in excitement was the general feeling after watching this Fred Paul adaptation.
