The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart

I don't know what anyone who hasn't seen the show will think of this, but the lines of reference and the byzantine internal chronology of the lore beggars the imagination. I don't know who the hell else this is for but it's for me.

It's fine. It wraps everything up neatly but in of itself is roughly the average quality of the last decade of output. If I ever rewatch VB for nostalgia years down the track I'm only going to bother with the first three seasons.

Twenty years in the making, this thing. It's about acceptance. Everyone accepts who they are. The Monarch hates Rusty. Rusty is fine being mediocre. Hank is Hank.

There might be an argument that this was just an extended episode, but that would be mere foolishness as more Venture Brothers is by the sheer power of mathematics superior to no more Venture Brothers, and if the sweet release of another season after several years of longing is just not an option, one should be grateful for this beautiful piece of strangeness going as it came, perfect in it's own way.

One of the better attempts to wrap things up after an undue cancellation, a last hurrah that gives us both laughs and resolves several cliffhangers. It very much feels like an extended episode of the series, though it falls short of the best of them, and in retrospect it may wrap up a little too cleanly. Still, it's the best of a bad situation, and a series this great is still worth it on its off days. Farewell Team Venture, and thanks for all the laughs.

I probable should have familiarized myself with the TV-show before venturing into the world of The Venture Bros., but it did tickle the curiosity. Though, I'm way sure I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I done the TV-series first.
