This was quite decent but for me these types of films need scores and spoken dialogue to really pull me in.

On the one hand, I love the look of this--the shots always stretching out into the distance, watching people from behind as they look out over the rolling ocean, etc. It's one of Griffith's best setups, and gets exactly the mood he wanted. On the other hand, the performances really just don't seem up to carrying this sort of plot along with any real interest.

A plodding, pensive pill of a film. I actually got excited when the camera panned slightly to the right. If your idea of a good time is watching a bunch of assholes stare wistfully at the ocean, then boy do I have a movie for you!
