Eclipse is an improvement over New Moon for one reason: absolutely nothing happens for almost an hour and a half. I know what you're thinking, "how is that positive? Who wants to sit through 90 minutes of terrible acting and shoddy writing?", but consider this: it's so unobtrusive you can think about the funny review you're going to write when you get home. I even fell asleep briefly. The finale is a ridiculous and badly filmed fight scene, but at least Kristen Stewart shuts up for a bit. Blegh.

Probably as close as the franchise will come to quality, David Slade gives a valiant effort but can't save this film from the fact that until the final act, nothing happens. Some decent fight scenes and another quality score from Howard Shore stand out, but at the end of the day there's just no fixing it. As with New Moon, the direction, design and music aren't half bad. Unfortunately they're stuck with a boring, poorly written story. Like all Eclipses, it's best if you look away.

After the interminable slog of the second movie, it was nice to see a return to such comedic brilliance as "I kissed her and she broke her hand punching me in the face. Just a misunderstanding." Also crappy vampire/wolf fights. Why is Dakota Fanning the most powerful vampire in the world? Ashley Greene is really hot. That conversation between Pattinson/Lautner while Lautner spooned Stewart half-naked to keep her warm slayed me. These are my thoughts.

The best so far!..Which doesn't say much, but there it is. Again I was expected to don my Team:Endure the Next Few Hours shirt and catch this flick with my wife. No new monster to love this time, I was hoping we'd get to see the Model from the Black Lagoon or something but sadly no.Some of the action was alright, and the backstories for the Cullen vampires actually come across as interesting.Still suffers from a poorly written story with questionable ideas of romance though.Oh and bad acting.

Luckily for you, IDK if I can commit to marriage with Edward even tho I am perfectly fine with being a vampire forever...except, actually, I can...we're getting married...and, y'know, I'm not like the other girls, I have a vampire boyfriend, and even if he's not as hot as you, he's, like, my reason, though I am everyone's reason, really, because I am Bella Swan.

As fun as it is watching a completely broken human being with no self-worth beg to be killed by her boyfriend who is in himself a creepy, needy broken person I just can't seem to enjoy this. It is simply so devoid and separate from reality, and I'm not talking about vampires here. Human interaction in this film isn't in any way natural. I understand what the creators want us to feel but we just can't feel it because it's so horrendously ungenuine.

Leagues better than the two first but that's like saying getting kicked in the shin is better than the crotch. Realizing this. The Twilight films are NOT the worst films in the world, there are far much more horrible films out there this is just over hype and "different taste" in vampires and werewolves and you know. This is a bad film but it is the best one out of the three I have seen. The film has a lot of pointless character development and no one really does anything in the film up until the end. I think the best things in this film was the backstory of Jasper which really made the film interesting

After the monotonous disaster of "New Moon," David Slade takes the reigns and gives "Eclipse" something the last installment hadn't: a pulse. Events and actions take place. Dialogue doesn't make you gag...constantly. The special effects and action sequences were impressive. Characters have depth, detail, and explanation. While the series is still bogged down by its teeny-bopper trappings regarding 'Edward or Jacob,' "Eclipse" finally addresses a bigger picture and some otherworldly mythology.

Fantasy romance and third in the series about a teenager approaching her high school graduation, who is forced to choose between the vampire boy she loves and her male werewolf friend. pretty much more of the same.... This is definitely the most romantic of the films... The action sequences are harder-edged, and occasionally exciting... But it's still hard to see what all the fuss over ordinary Bella is about.

I think this is a marginal improvement on the dire previous entry, but it’s not saying much – it’s ultimately frustrating because Stewart and Pattinson now and then have proved themselves charismatic stars, but any of their appeal is undermined by the glum and dreary characters they are asked to embody; the characters feel like the HARRY POTTER characters put on suicide watch, and the soapy plot is taken with such a heavy-handed earnestness that any opportunity for even campy fun drains away.

there isn't many movies like twilight that is about a woman's fantasy. if you keep in mind that this is indeed a fantasy and not the most thought out one, you are gonna enjoy the calm atmospheric mood of the film. again, i can't help but think that the low rating comes from it being a woman's fantasy. there are plenty of male "cheap" fantasies and they absolutely don't get bashed as much. this is hypocrisy.

For better and worse there are fewer laughs in this outing than in the last two. The filmmaking is relatively polished and there are only a couple illogical skips and twitches (since when were vampires *literally* made of ice?). The "for worse" is that the central relationships are growing increasingly unhealthy. I imagine the chemistry between Jacob and Edward in the tent is the closest we'll get to a charming romance in this series. Sigh.

Somehow Eclipse became a marginal improvement on the first two. Perhaps cause at least some plot occurs amidst all the angst. There still isn't much character to be found but a stirring moment or two won't make you want to punch yourself in the face as much. That being said. The third film in the Twilight series explores a love triangle between Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) as the werewolf pack and the Cullen clan join together to fight a new breed of vampires. I'm starting to feel sorry for the actors now, as they're clearly struggling to add some kind of emotion to the blank-slate non-people they've been written as. 6 hours of this so far and still no explanation as to why everyone is so obsessively in love with Bella, who as written has all the charm and personality of week-old roadkill.

The best of the Twilight movies so far that I've seen. Still I'm giving this a low score because it's still a God-awful movie series (not sure about the books). K-Stu is just as lackluster in her performance along with her lifeless partner Pattinson. Lautner was the only person with blood pumping through his veins (pun intended). As he was the only one doing a decent job. This movie posed the best action so far. The script is still terrible... and the sparkling of the vamps still angers me.

Brought back the hilarity and craziness of Twilight 1, along with the surprisingly grandiose fight scenes featuring brutal dismemberment and child murder. The main villains (an army of newborn vampires) spend most of their onscreen time chewing up the scenery (and people) in a rusty garage. Just straight up killin' people for fun. For a movie about a young adult novel about awful people falling in love, this series sure does go to some strange heights.

So far a series high point, which isn't saying that much. Still a lot of melodrama, still a lot of shirtless werewolves (or maybe I should say "shapeshifters"). It is better then the previous films though. Unlike New Moon, at least this had some action. The third act is really where the film picks up and separates itself a bit from the other two. The acting is a little better, but still a lot of wasted potential. At least there aren't as many awkward moments with Kristen Stewart.

Horribly written & acted with by-the-book cinematography & direction & paper-thin characters. They did actually attempt some character development, which is nice but kinda too little, too late. Once or twice I watched a scene & thought it was alright. Then I realised it only seemed that way when compared with the rest of the film. It was enjoyable in the way that it was incredibly easy to make fun of (eg. Kristen Stewart's laughably bad wig), but other than that, there's nothing good here.

Eclipse is incrementally better than New Moon. Lautner's limitations are more apparent in this film than before, but I thought Pattinson improved if only because his character's new-found confidence through most of Eclipse requires less subtlety than his earlier, more conflicted self. What I think needed the most improvement was the villain. Victoria always seems to be running away, and we never see her newborn army do anything that impressive, so they didn't feel like much of a threat.

These are undeniably shallow films, but I can understand the escapist appeal and Eclipse is at least technically the best made so far with an appreciable focus on action for the last act of the film. Given how much the Twilight series get beat up by critics, I'll leave out the negatives, save the cornerstone weakness of the the film; the characters are near dimensionless which doesn't matter much in an action film, though in romance is inexcusable.

So far the best movie of the twilight saga. The rivalry between Jake and Edward was taken to more interesting level compared to the new moon. The writers seem to have chosen for an approach with more emphasis on the background of the characters and it pays off. The movie seemed more fit for all ages. Furthermore, the emphasis on the vampire battle made you sometimes forget the cheesy teenage love aspect. However, sometimes isn't enough. They could've done more.

Mostly because it told the story New Moon tried to tell in a somewhat compelling and interesting way, but also because there was some actual drama and tension throughout.
