The Tune

I hate Plympton's style. In no way is it bad, he is a very talented artist but I do not like looking at it, its gross and unnerving.

Bill Plympton's hand-crafted cartoon feature, about a lovesick songwriter who has 47 minutes to write a hit, placate his boss--and secure his happiness. A surreal adventure ensues. On what must have been a tight budget, Plympton and his team create some delightfully wacky moments and deserve credit for simply making it at all. Unfortunately, it feels padded even at 69 minutes, and Maureen McElheron's songs are pleasant but unmemorable--which, given the emphasis on music, doesn't help matters.

Good style, cute songs. Definitely worth a watch for any fan of hand-drawn animation.
