Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods - human or otherwise - from one place to another. No questions asked. Frank's newest transport seems no different from the countless ones he's done in the past. He has been hired by an American known only as "Wall Street" (see Rule Two) to make a delivery, but when Frank stops along route, he notices his "package" is moving... (imdb)

I love it how the woman offers him sex for basically no reason, because that's just what women do in movies. I mean, if you're in some dude's house, and he's even marginally attractive, you might as well fuck him, right?

I'll always appreciate Statham, and I do find this synopsis semi unique and interesting, but something doesn't click with me here. I do believe that almost everything here is way too over the top, but Statham is one of the best action stars today and he certainly makes it better than it has any right being. The action sequences are what you come for, and I'd say they're pretty decent, but not good enough to carry the film anything past the average action flick.

Really entertaining as hell. The film starts off great with a funny, yet great car chase, but then drags on a bit. But most of that is made up with the last 25 minutes in which hardly 5 sentences are spoken. Great action in funny circumstances (eg fight in the bus and oil-scene). Not really a terrific film, but sure offers some entertaining moments

The premise is promising, there's some solid action, especially the car chases, and Statham does most of his own stunts. Yet the more the film progresses the more the script unravels. The love story is insultingly dumb and far-fetched (a woman who's just been kidnapped falling in love with the grade A asshole who facilitated her kidnapping after spending two minutes with him?), the backstory is weak, the acting mediocre, the protagonist confusing and the bad guys in disagreement with themselves.

Middling actioner finds Statham squarely in Norris/Bronson territory, bringing his sullen charisma and energy to a tired and dull plot which is livened by some exciting action scenes (especially in the first half). Slows down and becomes peculiarly mechanical in the last act, while committing the sin of giving no weight to Statham’s dispatch of his personal antagonist! Caveat emptor, but satisfactory as the disposable entertainment that it is.

I really like Statham, but he always seems to pick the dumbest movies he can find to star in. This one borrows it's set-up from "The Driver", but mostly fails to live up to it's premise for a couple of reasons. It gestures at the idea that Statham might be playing an interesting guy with a military background and an obsession with rules, but then it chucks all that aside and just devotes itself to action scenes.

This is what good action movie should look and feel like. The Transporter really delivers. But lets see what is in the bag. It contains Luc Bessons tight action full script and Statham charming person. There is also something stinky - why baddies ask to transport a living body. Only some weak excuses to explain that.

The lead character, Frank Martin - a.k.a. "The Transporter" (Stratham). He makes money by taking things (or people) from one location to another, no questions asked. He lives by three rules: (1) The deal is the deal, (2) No names, and (3) Don't open the package. He gets into trouble when he violates Rule #3 and discovers a pretty girl named Lai (Qi Shu) trapped inside a bag. From that moment on, Martin is on the run with all sorts of bad guys, and even a few good guys, on his trail.

Pretty good as far as these types of movies go! Statham is a charismatic lead in a very well-directed and well-choreographed film. The plot is a lot to be desired, and Statham's character development is lackluster, it's a hell of a good time, and there are some awesome action set pieces.

The Transporter is one of Jason Statham's better films but it's still average at best by general action film standards. Plot wise it's wafer thin and simplistic, but it's the set pieces and fight scenes that carry the film. The oil slick brawl in particular is unique and definitely worth a watch. But otherwise the wrest of the film is forgettable. And the final set piece involving a plane and a truck just feels exactly like the final set piece from the James Bond film 'Licence to Kill'.

This certainly is an action movie where Jason Statham kicks and punches people and things very hard. Otherwise though, it doesn't really have that much meat on it at all. It has some tame story about Chinese slaves that the writers apparently really struggled with so they had to use a cardboard 'hot chick' to hog-tie Statham into kicking even more butt. Action-packed car chases, tough shoot outs, big explosions, muscular fight scenes but not anything else beyond that. Quite the dud, really.

The Transporter is a film that consists almost solely of action scenes. It doesn't waste its time with silly things like plot or strong characters, which, for me, works against it. Some people might find this entertaining, and for those people, they'll really enjoy this film. It wasn't for me though, because there's no secondary element to compliment the unrelenting action. The soundtrack also annoyed me to no end, and I considered putting the film on mute multiple times.

There isn't a scene in this film that isn't laughably ludicrous. I'd go into detail but the film doesn't deserve it. Even a casual observer can find fault with every single scene. The acting was actually acceptable but there was simply nothing for the actors to work with. Luc Besson should be ashamed of himself; he gave us great films such as Leon and 5th Element, but then he puts out this drek. Wasted efforts by all involved.

Nothing more than an incoherent, action-packed romp. The only things that save this film from its silly, overly predictable self are, needless to say, Jason Statham's ability to simply trounce everyone that stands in his way. Additionally, the car chase sequences possess more substance than the rest of this film, but it's worth a watch.

Sighhhh. I don't care if he does do his own stunts. In a believable movie, the villains wouldn't be so considerate (and stupid) to wait their turn and come at him one-at-a-time. James Bond might get away with that, but it ruins the effect in a movie like this. Likewise, it would be better if 100% of the driving stunts were physically possible. Why do they have to go over the top? Lots of action, not much believability in this movie.
