Brendan Gleeson is fine as usual in this disappointing John Boorman film that shifts uneasily between doppelganger thriller, social allegory, political and economic commentary, and a heartwarming drama about self discovery and old family secrets. In the past Boorman has manifested the directorial power to weld such disparate elements into an artistic whole, but the miracle doesn't happen this time around.
