The Texas Kid (1943) is played by Marshall Reed in his first credited role, making his mark in a tweener role. Is he good or is he bad? This is a Johnny Mack Brown western, and it's all for him and Raymond Hatton to figure the kid out. Even with such a firm plot, this oater struggles to pick up steam thanks to the acting being subpar when story focused solely on the supporting cast. For Mack isn't involved enough to kick the heroics in gear.
