It is decent watch with a great performance from Affleck. But not much else to say and an easily forgetable watch. Not Clooney’s best.

The sets, costumes and overall production do a good job capturing the 70's in a nostalgic way. The story, however, is only just good enough, there's nothing very captivating here, which for some autobiographical stories might be a side effect of sincerity, but here, you can tell they try to tug on your heartstrings, it's just done with clumsy hands.

I think the second half of The Tender Bar could have been handled better, but it's still a good movie. A simple, pleasant, meaningful, sweet coming of age story.

Solid drama. Can't put my finger on it, but something was just a little off.

Some sweet moments, some tough, and plenty of truth kernels sprinkled throughout. It's a solid coming of age tale, albeit unremarkable.

Reasonably enjoyable, elevated by Affleck's performance as Uncle Charlie, its main issue is that there is nothing particularly remarkable about JR's story to warrant it being filmed in the first place. So what you are left with is good enough in the moment streaming fodder that won't linger long in your memory.

Tye Sheridan iyi. Ben Affleck çok iyiymiş. Hayatı sorunlarını sıkmadan, yavaş yavaş anlatmış. Filmin sonunda, Özgürlük. Her aile de 1 tane çıban başı çıkar.

A very good coming-of-age movie, but that's about it. Good direction, nice camera work, a strong performance from Affleck, Briana Middleton is natural and stunning, but there's nothing truly outstanding that makes me want to return immediately. I hear that J. R. Moehringer's book is entertaining and that his journalist work in particular is great, but the movie doesn't sell his story as one that necessarily needed to be put on film.

Easy to like and hate the characters they want you to like and hate. This was a well done movie, but I still found myself losing interest in spurts. Still good, but could have been tighter in some areas. Enjoyed the acting from young JR quite a bit. 6.5

Coming of age movies is a genre that I tend to enjoy but the script is pretty weak and unsatisfying.

Not a bad film but extremely mellow and unstriking. It's warm and generally very watchable but with average story behind it it leaves unrewarded at the end. I really enjoy writer movies and this one isn't any different so definitely sorry I saw it - I just expected more. The guys at the bar are really cool, this was well portrayed, and it's hard to decide on the mood of the grandpa's home - something between toxic and welcoming. Liked Affleck albeit it was a bit of cliché-filled character.

The laziest, most lifeless version of a probably very good 90s memoirish movie.

Aggressively fine. Nothing really bad happens and there isn’t much catharsis. All players involved show up and give admirable performances. You would be forgiven if this started to drift from your memory shortly after the credits roll

Aimless and hazy coming of ager is a pleasant and unchallenging experience; the cast are charming enough company to hang out with that you can nearly forgive the complete lack of plot and lurching, staccato pacing throwing the journey off course from time to time. You are left to ponder what happened to Clooney the debuting director from 20 years ago; while far from a catastrophe, you can sense a bland boredom from behind the camera here that is vaguely dispiriting.

Perhaps I'm growing softer with the things I expect from movies but this one was engaging. It had moments of growth, tenderness and acceptance and Sheridan turns in a top notch performances as does Affleck. It's really about their bond from beginning to end and believing in that. It makes sure to build upon that while forgetting other aspects of the story which is why it doesn't transcend as an all time great. It's still very good and very down to earth with the way it presents the events.

Sweet, poignant and ably acted. A coming of age story on the importance of fatherhood that's quite moving.
