While the acting and style of the film are good I found this film to be a bit pedestrian in the plot and pacing. This was worth watching once but I can't see myself watching it again.

An unglamorous look at FBI crime trailing, getting in on all the modern techniques used to take down crooks. There were several pictures similar to this done in '48 and The Street with No Name (1948) is on par with those. Legit feeling, and gets naturally exciting that way.

An enjoyable film when Richard Widmark is on screen; ho-hum otherwise.

The stab at authenticity provides some originality, but nothing else elevates its basic "cop undercover" plot.

Good story, but the pacing is very plodding and the narration that tells you how exciting and important and real this all is gets annoying. Widmark is great as the villain but otherwise it's just a decent noir with enough fun moments to make it worth the merely ok ones.

Eventually kicks into gear, with another great performance from the inimitable Richard Widmark and some stunning cinematography. I like the way it builds throughout, leading to a nailbiting climax.

Widmark is his characteristically scary-as-hell self.

A semi-sequel to House on 92nd Street, again featuring Lloyd Nolan as FBI Inspector Briggs. This one fares much better, though, without quite so much boring set-up. It feels more like polished 30's gangster flick than a police procedural. Widmark submits another sinister performance, and Mark Stevens is likeable (if a little bland) as the undercover agent who inflitrates his gang. Not one of the standout films of the genre, but a nicely constructed one with some tense moments.
