The Strange Ones

Incoherent waste of time.

Few films are willing to take a risk like this. No, not so much with the subject matter, but with a script that offers more questions than answers. It's terrifyingly unsettling. While that feeling is exacerbated by the subject, it's primarily due to the relentless tension that continuously builds throughout. There is zero resolution! To provide it would ruin the film's integrity. This is a tremendously well written and directed film, with a killer performance by newcomer, James Freedson-Jackson.

The mystery is there, but it can't reach a respectable climax. It should have been better and created a long-lasting impression if the boy acted both as the Victim (of sexual molestation, perhaps, by the older guy, thus making him mentally imbalanced to do what he did in the film) and the Assailant. MY SCORING: 99-96=Great; 95-90=Very good; 89-85=Good; 84-80=So-so; 79-70=Boring; Below 70=Forget it.

Awesome Mystery movie that leaves everything open-ended although, in my opinion, you can find the answers in the movie.
