The Squaw Man

In his debut, DeMiIlle had a lot to learn about telling a story on film--it's often not clear what to focus on, and the plot's hard to follow. Still, this was made with a great eye for settings and locations (the boat scene, the hot springs, the saloon/train station set, etc.--though, oddly, the "Alps" look exactly like southern California). Also, there's some ambitious cinematography that tries to make use of both the foreground and background and movement between them (with mixed results).

Not as good as the other squaw man :(

There's some interesting stuff going on but the abrupt editing and lack of flowing narrative really hurt my enjoyment of this.
