Fell a bit flat for me. Didn’t really buy into a lot of the backstory pathos and quite frankly feels like if it was played a tad differently it could’ve worked as an over the top melodrama but instead it’s played straight. When it actually leans into its campiness and it abandons the tension it’s trying (and failing) to build it actually works. With a great performance by Christopher Plummer
