The Small One

Disney puts the Christ in Christmas for the first and last time.

A sweet and tender movie that I adored as a child. Though somewhat religious in nature and I'm no longer Christian, I still enjoy it.

A bit sappy, but endearingly sincere.

This is a touching story and a great christmas film.

Don Bluth's directorial debut shows some promise of his later success. The film isn't particularly religious, but the theme of a rejected creature finding greater purpose fits right in with the themes of both the Gospel stories and Walt Disney. As does the antisemitism!

Did Alan Silvestri watch this before scoring THE POLAR EXPRESS? His main theme seems to be quoting this title song.

Sweet story and slightly sloppy animation.

Some fine voice work, some nice animation, and a good production all around. But it's far too long for its simple concept. Beyond its short lived and finale pay off there's barely anything in here to do with Christmas or really anything at all. Recommended only for Don Bluth fans or animation fans in general.

I grew up with this movie; it's wonderful.
