Laura Hope Crews - WHAT A MOTHER!!! I feel for Irene Dunne & Frances Dee having her as a mother-in-law with those two mama's boys! I loved this for the blatant emotional blackmail. Yes, it gets a bit preachy in both directions - wife vs mother - but it was a battle worth seeing!

Though her film career was short, Laura Hope Crews shows here why she was such a darling of the stage, giving a superb theatrical performance as a manipulative, overbearing windbag desperately trying to keep her two sons from marriage and self-sufficiency. It’s a brisk, smartly-written and enjoyable little drama, with Irene Dunne providing a great counterpoint as the determined daughter-in-law.
