The Silenced

It's very entertaining but very, very silly. The camp elements of it are delectable and the costuming is so luxurious that I could almost feel the ironed crispness of those pleats on those wool skirts. I guess it deserves points for its nonsensical nature and completely unpredictable plot developments, but that's about it.

Not a horror nor a suspense. Just silly.

Wow. This is the first Korean film I've ever watched, and good God, I am FLOORED. This film is beautifully crafted, full of subtle imagery and symbolism, with tremendous acting, an ominous, suspenseful and heart-breaking story, and I loved it from start to finish. Jesus, it's been a while since I've seen a movie that gripped me so entirely.

Spooky girls boarding school. Or so it may seem. I liked the general idea, though I'm not 100% thrilled about how they handled the big twist. But Gyeongseonghakyoo: Sarajin Sonyeodeul [The Silenced] (2015) is a stylish production with some likable characters. Becomes almost too glamorous in delivering it's lunacy, but that the art they chose.

The chemistry between the two lead girls in this is enough to override some of the disappointment in its plot mechanics.

Tries to set up an intriguing atmosphere, but doesn't have a good enough mystery to back it up with. A severe lack of characterization further hurts the story.
