The Show Goes On

While Jessie Matthews was the foxy lady of British musicals in the 30s, Gracie Fields was the folksy lady of British musicals. Fields catered to the music hall audience which was more a place for low brow entertainment. Fields have yet to win me over in the few films I've seen of her. This was another one that fell flat before me. Didn't laugh once. Some songs caught the mood a little, but also that part wasn't anything that fell in with my tastes. I guess Gracie Fields just isn't my thing.
