Take some guys with wishes to win easy money copyng the formula of the serie 24, a cast who think their`re good (specially Michael Douglas...boy, time to retire now!) and you'll have this. The note? Not a coincidence...at all!

The only reason I watched this was for jack bauer and my god did they waste my boy. i only ever like michael douglas as a slicked back hair douchebag type or liberace. not as an old man who cucks the president.

The play between Sutherland and Douglas was alright, but what a lame group of Russians trying to kill the president. All because of a once upon a time KGB agent, who I by the way guessed way too fast was the "bad guy". Okay*

Watching this film is almost as good as watching a season finale of 24. Kiefer Sutherland basically plays a toned-down Jack Bauer here, and Michael Douglas is fantastic too. Excellent pacing, editing, and production value. Probably the best use of Toronto in a film since the Silent Partner.

Secret Service agent Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) investigates a colleague's murder and subsequently becomes a suspect due to the machinations of a blackmailer who knows the secret he is hiding. Disgraced, dismissed and now a fugitive, Garrison must both clear his name and save the president from assassination.

The first third of the movie got me intereted, the second third was a test to see how many film cliches you know and the last 3rd was plain awful. What a bad movie..

This is one dull film that tries to be too complex for its own good, and winds up not making enough sense for it to be followed. Whether the studio trimmed it, a smarter editor was needed, or the screenplay didn't make sense to begin with, I couldn't make heads or tails of some of the details in The Sentinel, or why it would make many of the decisions it makes. It has good actors with nothing interesting to do, and there's no reason for you to watch it.

These types of suspense movies are usually pretty good, but they all seem to have a pretty standard story. This movie was no different.
The good guy gets blackmailed. He must clear his name. In the end all is good.
The main plot of the movie was pretty engaging. I enjoyed the twisting story-lines too. But, the whole movie was pretty serviceable.
I enjoyed Kiefer Sutherland in this movie. He played the part well, but I suppose he has had a lot of practice with 24. Douglas was lacklust

"Working with DP Gabriel Beristain, Johnson shoots the go-nowhere action with an underlit, smudgy color scheme that feels like a poor photocopy of Alejandro González Iñárritu and Fernando Meirelles's signature cinematographic styles." - Nick Schager

How does one make a thriller with no action? Pay special attention to the bad guy who shoots up a mall then eludes the Secret Service by putting on a baseball cap and a jacket and walking out the side door. Wow.

I watched it because i'm a fan of Sutherland. Besides that it's an easy to miss film. Very empty. Weak script and Kim Basinger was awfull. Even the love story betweed Douglas and Basinger didn't get a proper finish: 'Hey I love you and all, but i'm retiring. Goodbye. The end.'

A good concept that is often overused and cliched. Sutherland comes in and does not seem to show any bit of acting we have not already seen from him on 24. Douglas is decent, Basinger has a super small role and there were too many references to how hot the men though Eva Longoria is. Take not script writers never have your male leads drool over the female leads it is shallow and annoying to watch. Also you lose any intelligent credibility your script. Just a tip for anyone writing a script.

A slick but sudden hangnail of a thriller with a lackingly embarrasing performance from Kiefer Sutherland. Empty and out of place, you're sure to forget this in a quick flash of a second. Still it's a decent attempt and Longoria is pretty.

After watching Harrison Ford embarrass himself in Firewall, I was hesitant to approach a modern actioner starring Michael Douglas. I shouldn't have been. It's a slick flick, and a lot more fun than what I had expected. There's a lot less "Fugitive"-style action than the trailers suggest, and more than a few logic gaffs in the script, but I liked the insider-angle to Secret Service work that the first 20-odd minutes provided. For what it is, it works. It just isn't a whole lot.
