The culturally isolated, nomadic Seburi people of western Japan are the subject of this about a few of the community's members who especially experience difficulties as modern Japan encroaches. Time is World War II, and the military police come to take Seburi men away into the army. The Seburi are particularly cruel to women & are mainly treated with fear and animosity by the non-Seburi townspeople. The Seburi still lived in tents until the 1950s. (KG)

More like a docudrama than a plain movie and as such may be better than I have rated.... There is a ton of detail on the primitive seeming and very hard ways of the Seburi. The plot seemed a bit overly complex /jumpy and overly long. Trouble looms when (a) Seburi are bacically kidnapped into military service and (b) a Seburi girl falls for an "ordinary man" as all outside the clan are called. Cinematography of the unfriendly area is superb. Many topless female shots.
