Not bad for a direct-to-video sequel in a spin off series. There may be little through lines of dialog put into these movies, but none of them really seem like they were meant to be sequels. At any rate, this one is better than the original, but that's not saying much. It's honestly only one Kevin Sorbo away from being a "Hercules" episode.

The latest installment of this 'series' has another different scorpion king (odd to call it a series when you have no recurring characters). Anyway, if you take the film for what it is, it's actually fairly enjoyable, kind of reminiscent of the tv Hercules series of the late 90s. I really enjoyed the performance of Hollman, she was fun and had a lot of spunk.

The 4th installment in The Scorpion King franchise. And by this point so unnecessary! The once great adventure films have turned into a cheap straight-to-video deal which surely benefits no one. What makes in fun though, is that they try so very hard to deliver the the spellbinding action of it's predecessors.... yet they don't have the talent, money, nor stars to make it anywhere credible! Staged so desperately bad that each "spectacular" scene brings smile. So the 4th is unintentionally fun.

Maybe they were trying to be campy (crotch stabbing was critical in the fights), but I'm afraid they were serious and this was the best they could do. Maybe watching it baked would add to it's appeal.

The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power is an utter disappointment, but then it probably had to be. It couldn't live up to its direct predecessor. It doesn't have the charm, the technical prowess, the cinematography, the editing, the script, or the chemistry between its stars that the last one did. Its action is poorly constructed, its jokes feel forced, and its story is dull. It's not horrible, but it's a mediocre-at-best movie that had the misfortune of following the greatest film ever created.
