It just, I dunno, it wasn't quite there. The movie was long, and the first 2 hours kind of set the stage. The storyline was fine though a bit slow. Then there's what I suspect is supposed to be the climax of the story and it just immediately falls apart. Big meh.

Despite the pretty production design and capable cast, "The School For Good And Evil" falls flat due to its lack of originality, rushed pacing, and frustratingly one-note performances. The film adds nothing new to the crowded YA fantasy subgenre and fails to do right by its talented cast.

I had a good time, I'm not sure I'll remember much and that doesn't matter.

For a movie so focused on stories, it feels like the writers didn’t do so. Plot holes abound.

Caruso is delightful but everyone else can go suck on an asparagus. Caruso’s Sophie is the only character to go through any sort of character arc. All other roles are castiron in their rigid places.

Docking a coupla points for it being literally an hour longer than necessary.

I found the film very entertaining. It started very smoothly, immediately full of action and kept this up for a whole film. Only from the middle did I find that the quality deteriorated and we ended up more and more in a children's story, which of course is not illogical as the film is based on children's books.

This profound allegory consciously reflects the apex of Nietzsche's grand philosophical statements on overcoming dogmatic, maladaptive and destructive slave morality. Could be used as an introduction to this challenging academic subject.

This movie starts off well but the script could have used more work. The movie starts to drag and most of the characters start to become uninteresting. The highlight of this cast is Charlize Theron, she steals the film. Overall this movie is disappointing.

It's hard to find redeeming qualities on this one. Right off the bat, you get horrible CGI, followed by awful leads. The icing of the cake is the so-called "finger magic", which looks absurd and like a parody. As the intended audience is children, I'm not judging the story too much, but I did read what happens in the next books and it is, lightly put, abysmal. It's heavily influenced by Harry Potter and other franchises. Stick with Once upon a time if you are itching for some fairy-tale setting.

The School for Good & Evil has its problems but by its end manages to tell an interesting tale with likable characters that mostly achieves its goal of deconstructing fairy tale ideals of "good" & "evil". The 1st act is the least consistent, establishing tropes in a haphazard way. The rest of the film is peppered with pop-punk top 50 songs, lacklustre fight scenes and a slightly derivative plot, but the cast, costumes and set design make up for it. Enjoyable nonsense.
