The Sandpiper

Second part of an unintentional badass beatnik double feature, this time with Charles Bronson donning a paintbrush and a down with the system attitude. The real star of course is the weird thing going on between Taylor and Burton where they just keep pumping out movies about the two of them being in love but also maybe they shouldn't be.

Bad, but so very amusing. Pauline Kael: "As Burton eyed the portly Taylor in her Irene Sharaff poncho, and delivered such lines as "I've lost all my sense of sin," the people in the theatres could not contain themselves. The movie will probably never be quite as hilarious again, but it's a classic, no matter when you see it. [...]The clergyman, redeemed by contact with the atheist's spiritual values, casts off the temptations of wealth and worldly success and finds his simple faith again."

Another deplorable Taylor-Burton effort. Poor Vincente Minnelli!
