The Rose of Rhodesia

The Rose of Rhodesia (1918) is fascinating for two basic reasons. First is that it features REAL black people! Don't get me wrong, it's still a very WHITE movie, but in the 1910s most black characters on screen were white people with blackface make-up on. The second historic reason is that it's a rare South African film from the silent era! The leads are still white and the story is looked on from a white mans perspective, which doesn't always go down well today. Not the worst offender.
