Overused and predictable jokes are the main culprit of this film. It is so formulaic that you know exactly what will happen in the next shot. What's more, this time there is no adequate story to keep audience engaged. I feel like they first wrote the jokes and tailored the story according to them which explains the collage of nothing but neverending clumsiness. Having said that it's not as bad as you would want to kick Sellers' ass.

This is the Pink Panther movie I grew up with, and the one that I recommend people wanting to get into the series start with. It's a pretty straightforward Pink Panther movie, with some really entertaining, zany humor. It's not QUITE my favorite in the series (that would be Shot in the Dark), but it's very close.

hard to compare this to the earlier films, because they had a very 60s feel to them, in the same way this has a very distinct 70s feel. Sellers changed Clouseau around a bit, making him have a more exaggerated accent and his bungling and ineptitude is more pronounced, but this is probably the more enduring version of the good inspector. as always, herbert lom as the chief inspector brings a good deal of comedy to the table too

This is not one of the best in the series. There are some laughs, some fun moments and some of the jokes fall flat. Peter Sellers is still great in the lead role. Overall I would recommend this one to only fans of the previous entries from Blake Edwards.

More laugh out loud silly fun and antics from Inspector Clouseau.

It's two different movies, one a lively Sellars slapstick, the other a tedious slog with Christopher Plummer doing fuck all on his parallel investigation. He is cool as shit though, so gotta give him that.

Delightful and funny sequel that sometimes feels like a comedic Bond movie.

An adequate, but unremarkable sequel. Edwards' direction is competent, even impressive, and there are some very funny moments. The issue is a focus on plot, and not a rich one at that, with screen time split between the fun stuff (Clouseau) and Litton's uneventful wild goose chase. The latter is neither funny nor compelling, so it just bogs the film down. God bless Cato though. He is a shining beacon of slapstick mirth, only occasionally brought down by Edwards' new found love of slow motion.

A true "return" to form for the series after the horrible previous film, starring Alan Arkin. This was basically a love letter to the fans because it doesn't really give you anything new, but what it does give you is the Pink Panther theme song again, the return of Peter Sellers, Blake Edwards, and the Phantom character, and Kato - all of which were missing in that third film.

It's astonishing that anyone ever made any of these films without Sellers since he's the only reason it works at all. Plummer does an ample job replacing Niven, but the really think plot gives him (and anyone else for that matter) almost nothing to do. The film ambles along amiably enough until Sellers dons a disguise and a ludicrous accent and does a really long slapstick sequence ... and then the film repeats this until it's over.

Maybe it's just because of the quintessential 70s look, which I very much like, that I enjoyed this more than both 'The Pink Panther' and 'A Shot in the Dark'. It's a fun ride and much better paced than those two films, with fewer moments that drag and bore the viewer (in fact none at all). I prefer Plummer as Lytton, as much as I like David Niven, as he's so delightfully suave in everything he does. However, Lom is still annoying as Inspector Dreyfus, in my opinion an unnecessary caricature.

This is not the worst comedy I've seen, or even the worst Pink Panther sequel. I still found it more than a bit lacking and largely mediocre.

Arguably the weakest of the middle trilogy of 'great' Panther films, this is still a hilarious string of Clouseau gags, with some enjoyable filler in-between (with Dreyfus' malfunctioning cigarette lighter a memorable highlight). Luscious cinematography and Edwards' nimble staging are highlights, though Plummer seems somewhat out of his depth (and confused) as the Phantom.

The look of this flick is SO 70's! Only Peter Sellers could pull this crap off, I suppose, but I just don't find this kind of obvious slapstick particularly funny.

The changing of The Phantom to Christopher Plummer seemed blasphemous, but he worked it. It may not trump the first film, but really, what can? It lives under the shadow of the first one and it always will, but that doesn't mean that it's not a good movie. My dad hates any film after the first one, mainly because of Herbert Lom, but that's alright

The character of Dreyfus exists solely to give rich boy dbag Blake Edwards a middle class person to beat up. It's a Pink Panther redo, with a better Phantom and gritty 1970's exoticism (like the Emanuelle series). The Cato gags are actually better than the ones in A Shot in the Dark, thanks to some nifty high speed camera work. Nearly as good as the previous Sellers as Clouseau outing, but the mean spiritedness seems to be back.

After rewatching this for the 10th time, I finally get why I could never follow the plot. It's because there isn't one. Not a real one anyway. Kind of a first draft of an inception of a idea for a plot, but not a real plot. Still the threadbare storyline does manage to hold plenty of slapstick gags together and, as always, Burt Kwouk and Herbert Lom provide ample support.

Takes a while to get going, but once it hits the scene where he sneaks into the hotel room it hits such a fantastic comedic stride I couldn't help but love it.

Hadn't seen this in a while. Forgot how much of a Sellers vehicle it really is; at this point, the PP films were little but a way to get from one funny Clouseau moment to the next. And they are funny, even though the plot is threadbare at best and Plummer isn't nearly as good a gentleman villain as Niven was.

Full of iconic sequences (from the theft and Clouseau's examination of the crime scene to the sheer sidesplitting frenzy that ensues when he's disguised as Emile Flournoy or Guy Gadbois - and way too many more to mention) and equally hilarious smaller moments, it's an infinitely rewatchable laughfest helmed by the absolutely brilliant Peter Sellers, who is surrounded by a great cast of actors, and is also the film that signifies the franchise's comeback and the start of its most homogeneous era.

A must-see for Pink Panther fans. It takes the comedy to the next level and leaves tears in our eyes as the bumbling Clouseau intrepidly seeks to bring about justice with some slaptastic but ingeniously implemented detective work.

More than a decade after Peter Sellers had last starred as Inspector Clouseau, he returned to the role in The Return of the Pink Panther (1975), and the movie is overall a lot different than the previous two Sellers had starred in. First of all, it visually looks nothing like the other two. Of course, this is to be expected. The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark both had the feel of 60s movies, and this one has a distinct 70s style.
