A forgettable thriller, complete with a twist that can be spotted from a thousand paces by a one-eyed crone with glaucoma, AND a villain-explains-his-whole-plan-before-(unsuccessfully)-killing-the-hero-at-the-end exposition scene for those unfortunate viewers suffering from vision worse than a one-eyed crone with glaucoma. Starring Al Pacino as Al Pacino and Colin Farrell as Mr. Potatohead.

Ugh. How many times can Pacino say "I am a scary judge of talent" and "Nothing is as it seems"? Too damn many. The story is lame, all plot twists for the sake of plot twists.

Colin Farrell in full hunk-mode, Al Pacino as .. Al Pacino, and the adorable 24-style tech pushes me to forgive the crappy plot and dumbness.

What i should learn, and learn fast is that movies what give at start great expectations, fail to keep the tension and ends up as it was predicted. Here the key element was when Walter told to Clayton, that he knew Claytons father and how he died.

One of those impossibly twisty action thrillers that the basis of the production can never fully support, something that only succeeds in gradually isolating the viewer from the action. By the end there's no real surprise who is behind everything and you're left with a blunt feeling of dissatisfaction. That's not to say that Farrell and Pacino don't play the roles well though, putting in the best performances they probably could have done. Pretty hard to remember much at all from The Recruit.

I used to love Tom Clancy-style stories but this one was just stupid, too many twists that didn't matter. I can't believe I even remember watching this.

You never know who's working for who but it ends up being just boring by the end. Colin Farrel and Al Pacino both do good jobs wih the script they had though.

Great first act, weaker second, slightly falls apart by the third due to an overreliance on 90s action movie tropes. Still entertaining.

A film that knows how silly it is and attempts to gussy up the seams with style and wit so that the audience doesn’t realise they are being shafted – the first half is particularly well done, with Pacino’s dryly amusing mentor and Farrell’s hopelessly naïve greenhorn meshing nicely; it may not pass a credibility test with flying colours, but the "world building" helps the second half flow and connect better than it probably should, right up to the absurd quadruple flip of the finale. Great fun.

I signed up for the CIA thinking it would awesome cloak-and-dagger type shit like this. Nope. Paperwork. Endless paperwork. I guess 2 hours of Colin Farrell collating wouldn't sell very many tickets. Then again, 2 hours of Colin Farrell anything is pretty excruciating.

The Recruit is completely forgettable and looking back I remember little. I have often contemplated a repeated viewing. But does it deserve or justify one? The whole film just felt very bland and I remember feeling completely dissatisfied. I can live with a dull Colin Farrell. But a dull Al Pacino is something we've all sadly had to accept. And these generic, run of the mill thrillers he's churning out these days just aren't worth anyone's time or money.

Good psychological thriller. Al Pacino is excellent and Colin Farrel not bad. I predicted the ending, but it was a fun ride nonetheless.

very good one this one, good plot line, slow but steady run, farrel works well with pacino, feel this was the start of many films where the end twist was predictable.

We can be grateful that the unspooling plotline has not been weighted down with extraneous action, but the filmmakers seem a little anxious, a little apologetic, about it. The actors -- the weary know-it-all, Pacino, alongside that thin-skinned innocent, Farrell -- contribute their share of wasted motion, and add to it a lot of wasted emotion as well. These florid performers give the impression that "The Company" as presently constituted is less suited to saving the world than to singing Verdi.

Surprisingly good. This action film is rare in two aspects: It isn't grand on the action scenes, but when they occur they are very realistic. Secondly, the twists are very surprising, and they catch you unprepared to the very end.
