The Rat

The Rat is rather melodramatic, but it has it's appeal. Mostly because it's one of the last movies Ruth Chatterton (of Dodsworth (1936) fame, along with several precode films) did before going back to the stage. It's also got a fine performance by Anton Walbrook as the the proud lowlife in one of his earliest English speaking roles. While not the most appealing of stories, it had my attention through-out thanks to some very direct characters.
