I don't understand how stiff she got the directing, though the script was just marv. She should get much more out of it. I liked the fantasy element though.

Robin Wright Penn, leading the diverse cast, is always watchable and her character of Pippa is original. While the film is never particularly funny nor touching, it's still a fairly good time.

From time to time the story and direction seemed like Woody Allen had something to do with it.

Starts off quite interestingly with an enigmatic concept, but after halfway through, no mystery remains, and the spark soon dies. The acting is reasonably good but there's a grating voiceover and well, melodramatic women problems just don't do it for me that much. Pretty average and forgettable.

A surprisingly flavorless affair. The film examines Pippa's journey with special attention given to all the ways she's been exploited, emotionally and otherwise, by the various people in her life, an attention that's presumably meant to give extra meaning to the moments when she's able to break away and declare her freedom. The film is a dull, serious trudge with the occasional forcefully quirky moment that indicates that Miller can't quite figure out what she wants the film to be.

"Pippa Lee is conceived as a portrait of a woman's long-delayed emotional blossoming, but its dopey, privileged-set fantasy winds up as obvious as crawling through Keanu's open window." - Bill Weber

Easy watching, fairly enjoyable like a holiday read, but not particularly memorable.

A decent drama about an aging housewife coming to terms with her past, present and future. Robin Wright is rather good in the lead.

Possibly Robin Wright's best work ever, and yet it's so very hard to recommend this film...

Poor filmmaking. Could've just read about it and been just as bored as I was watching it. The voiceover is lazy and annoying, it's like Miller can't reveal anything about her characters without using it. I just didn't care about Pippa and there was no reason to either. Still, Keanu's acting made me ROFL.
