It's redhead Bonnie Bedelia as Keanu's mom vs redhead Amy Madigan as his older lover. Fred Ward is having fun as the kidnapped, coal miner father that no one wants to pay for but in spite of the setup the film as a whole isn't particularly funny. Closer in tone to a dramedy which is where humor goes to die.
