Even as far as rom-coms go this is bland and unimaginative. Everything here, you've seen it before done a lot better.

This had the potential to be the most interesting of the “royal slummer romance” subgenre from the 2000s: quite serious minded all things considered with some real weight given to Stiles and Mably’s characters and developing relationship. Its odd structure does it in, spending too long in Wisconsin, and then rushing through Stiles’ ascension to royalty. Almost redeems itself by ending on a perfect bittersweet note, before shooting itself in the foot with a hurried “happy” epilogue.

Oh, Martha Coolidge...she made a few reasonably smart young-adult-type flicks early on, and then... too much TV work, most likely. A girl's gotta make a living, I suppose... A few charming moments, almost all of them provided by Julia Stiles. Without her, there would be absolutely no reason to watch this.

A bland, fluffy, and predictable bit of wish fulfillment.

Frederik and Mary as American Rom-com with a script so poor and predictable it almost hurts. Will probably appeal to the target audience, though.

I like Julia Stiles. Sure, it's predictable and formulaic, but I didn't feel like I completely wasted that time of my life.

"This surprisingly intelligent dramedy is largely hung-up on facades and is critical of misogynistic fairy tales promised to young girls." - Ed Gonzalez

The Prince & Me has the materials to be a heartwarming mass-market love story, but it doesn't assemble them convincingly.

I like Julia Stiles. This was predictable, but fine for a Saturday afternoon, light-fare movie.

As a Dane and a Tom Waits lover this felt pretty much designed to piss me off.

horrible chick flick (as if there were some medicore to good ones) i got sucked into seeing with a girlfriend AT THE THEATER... bill simmons has a good article out there about guys seeing chick flicks with their girlfriends... check his archive out, but a memorable quote from that article was that he wanted to bludgeon himself with his 164oz coke... if you watch this movie you might just do that

I wasn't sure about this movie at first, but it didn't take too long for me to really fall in love with it. Sure, there's some classic story lines and little lack of originality, but it's all told really well. It's acted well and I felt satisfied with the ending (thanks for choosing the ending they did!). There's more too it than meets the eye, which is nice.

Mindless and predictable but great to watch as a family chick flick with the kids

The Prince & Me isn't a film I hated, but that doesn't mean it deserves a passing grade. With just a little more effort and insight, this could have something more than just another pleasant nothing of a movie. You've probably seen it all before, but just in case you haven't, watch Ever After (or even Pretty Woman for older audiences) instead for a formula Cinderella retread done with some distinction.
