Not the worst thing a priest has done to a child in a bed. Fat Russel Crowe is the hoot to our hollers, when he's zipping around on a Vespa wearing layers that are inches from being snagged in the wheels without a care in the world - cinema baby. Vatican having this priest guy going around taking demons outta kids and having priests put lolol the lengths the church goes to pickling cucumbers.

Has a powerful opening, good gothic atmosphere, and a good Crowe performance. Exorcism movies aren't my jam in general, and this isn't the best example of it, but there's still some stuff to like here. And ultimately it's entertaining, even if it isn't overly so, and that's what matters.

A broken family moves into a big, scary place and then the son gets possessed by the devil! The devil's only weakness? A priest with a dark past, who plays by his own rules. You can't get THIS priest to turn in his badge. But, you can get him to go through ever, single possession trope that has ever been.

The one bright side in this cliche horror film is Russell Crowe, who gives a full-bodied performance that feels like it should be in a better film. Other than that, there is a potentially unique concept that the film touches on in terms of demonic possession and the Inquisition, but it quickly discards this for standard jump scares and demonic imagery. None of it is that scary because we've seen it before and, in fact, a lot of it is silly, such as the demon roaring (which it does a lot)

"The Pope's Exorcist" features a lively performance by Russell Crowe as an unorthodox priest, providing some entertainment value. However, the film is hindered by its predictable, unoriginal plot and clichéd elements, resembling past exorcism movies. Subpar CGI prevents the demonic creatures from being frightening, leaving the film feeling stale overall.

Tepidly-intriguing exorcism fare that grows increasingly desperate to launch a full-blown "da Vinci Code" franchise as it goes along. Look, I didn't hate this. I just don't think there's much we haven't seen before. There's a plot, and it really isn't made to feel important. There are characters, and they're fine. The scares are okay. The directing is okay. But an "okay" exorcist movie at this point isn't going to cut the proverbial mustard. There's a better movie to be made about this person.

It might be yet another one in the long stream of "The Exorcist" copies, but unlike most of those, it actually managed to scare me more than once.

A movie mainly carried my Russel Crowes Italian accent and exceptional acting. Crowe has had a lot of films lately that he has done well in. Sleeping dogs and land of the bad being very good too. Also the movie is based on a “true” story, it makes the movie better to keep this in mind.

As an enthusiast of horror movies, I must say that this film went above and beyond my expectations in terms of keeping me engrossed and captivated by its unfolding events. It successfully managed to avoid the clichés often associated with the genre, which was truly refreshing. Personally, I adored this movie. The inclusion of the pope as an authentic character in real life. The entire cast delivered excellent performances, leaving me thoroughly impressed.

There is not a lot that is new in the script for this movie. Most of the things that happen also happen in similar themed movies. Russell Crowe gives a good performance in this film, it makes the material better. Overall I would recommend this horror film.

Şeytan azapta. Eski 1 manastırı onarmaya çalışan 2 çocuklu annemiz, girdikleri 1 odada şeytanın çıkmasına olanak olur. Şeytan, oğlan çocuğuna musallat olur. Ona yardım edecek olan karizma Russell Crowe rahibimiz kurtarmaya çalışır. Prodüksiyon tasarımı çok iyi. Mekanlar yıkılıyor. Epeydir güzel 1 korku filmi izlemedim. Kaliteli. Etkileyici ama sıradan. Filmin sonunda, şeytanları kovalamaya devam. Şeytan içime kaçtı çıkmıyor.

A top horror film. Good funny bits and some terrifying bits. Evil does exist in this world and some people refuse to believe that. People are not inherently good, you are taught that. And in groups people can become monsters

russel crowe does a mario accent and exorcises a child in his bed. the characterisation of priesthood mirrors the tone of movie, it’s cartoonish with a hint of edge. i’d complain about the film being catholic propaganda, but it’s not worth the effort. so mid.

To say this movie has a tone problem is a gross understatement. Amorth works better as a sarcastic/comedic modern-minded priest than he does the battle-weary devout exorcist, and while Crowe tries to turn in a fine performance, the movie suffers from how the two really do not mix well. When the horror elements aren't being undercut by the comedy cop duo vibes, they are earie and compelling, though admittedly they aren't always good enough to help it stand out among exorcist movies.

We are out of ideas as to how to make a demon possession shocking, so we use the old standards and add some weight to the script by having the Pope himself, well, his exorcist anyways, as the protagonist. There's a line in here about, "Do you know what would happen if the Pope's exorcist was possessed," and I'm pretty certain it's the same as when anyone is possessed. These people aren't walking around like in Fallen. They're bedridden puking idiots. I don't know...

It's as if they had two seperate plots and decided to merge them into one movie. And failed miserably. As any movie you'll see in the genre, this one too is full of badly done cliches. Why doesn't the fucking demon target someone other than a child for one single time? The movie tries to convey a nice message but it's so poorly done, I almost died from cringe while watching the end. For the cherry on top: exorcism scenes in this movie are the worst I've ever seen. Not worth your time.

Yılın hayal kırıklıklarından. Amorth çok merak uyandırıcı bir karakter, ancak çok standart bir anlatım söz konusu yine. Russell Crowe ismini görmeseydim muhtemelen sonunu getir(e)mezdim.

Crowe is top notch in this. The whole vibes he’s giving off where he refuses to give in to any smaller parts and only wants this or unhinged is what makes him a star. A grizzly flick especially for its era. People wanted camp and Crowe gave them horror

I liked Crowe here. Average fare exorcism paint by numbers type of story, but with a solid demon foe on the other end. Relies far too much on strobe effects during the final third for photosensitive folks like myself, but still a worthwhile one time viewing for the Crowe man. 6.2

Completely and utterly shameless in its unoriginality, it's as middle-of-the-road as a movie with exorcism in its title ever gets. Worse yet, the dialogue is simply horrendous. Russell Crowe, who flourishes when he gets a good script, trips over this one and falls flat on his face.

Rather conventional, but well directed enough to keep you interested in anything that happens here -- from Crowe making jokes and drinking whisky and on his Vespa to the exorcism itself, bloody, out loud and hitting all the notes it needs to hit to make every horror fan entertained. But nobody seems to have more fun here than Crowe, in his most laid back performance to date -- you just wanna hang out with Amorth, talk about demons and shit. Hope they really franchise this, Conjuring-like style.

Russell Crowe is really good here, as he usually is, but it's just not enough. The movie is quite mediocre, feels like a weaker version of Dan Brown has written. Maybe with more horror/suspense and more visual story telling in the whole "secret history" of the Vatican... But back to Russell, he was very fun, cheeky and dramatic when needed.

They made it as entertaining as possible despite the backdrop of the most ridiculous religious nonsense ever invented. The music is intense and slightly overbearing, as was the graphics. Ton's of grotesque CGI. The story is all garbage, but the theater of it is good. I can't rate it higher than Not That Hot due to the asinine subject mater, but as horror movies go, it holds your interest and is not a complete waste of time. Not for children!

A lot more vile than I was expecting. I mostly went to this because I saw Crowe riding a Moped in one of the set pictures and was pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. Of course visually it looks run of the mill (below in some instances ie the cgi leaves a lot to be desired) with no eye at all, but you get enough from Crowe in the picture to forget all that. Let the man cook. When the demon grabbed his mom’s tits and lamented about not being breastfeed I knew this was going to be different.

A rather predictable exorcism movie. CGIs are alright, jumpscares - kind of mild. For those, who watched, here's an alternative ending of the main character, who failed to gather all of the collectables: "2nd Vatican hearing. Peer jury offers Gabriele to become the missionary in consecrating unholy sites. He gracefully accepts. A nun cames in and offers him coffee. He responds with "double expresso with two spoons of sugar please" and smiles to the camera. Fade to black.
