The Pom Pom Girls

It wasn't until I saw this movie that I realized Dazed and Confused was a love letter to the seventies. Who knew?

Aimless, shapeless, charmless, but very much not boobless high school sex comedy (although it's pretty much laughless, too).

'The Pom Pom Girls' is much more calm and natural than the over-the-top American high school sex comedies from the '80s-'90s, just a tiny crazy.

"The Pom Pom Girls" is a story about the struggles of teenage life, focusing on a guy known for his womanizing ways but eventually falls in love. However, the plot lacks depth and could benefit from more attention to humor, such as improving the portrayal of a food fight and big game scenes. This film does feature nudity, as one might anticipate from a typical teenage exploitation movie.

A textbook example of a hangout movie. One comparison point could be American Graffiti, but this one is not set during any such specific time frame or have similar story arcs; it’s just a slice of life about these kids. The title makes it sound like a teen/T&A comedy about cheerleaders, which it is not. The cast - Carradine, Adler - did a solid job and the cars look great. My biggest compliment is that I started watching this way too late at night and didn’t have any trouble finishing it.
