The Plot Against Harry

Made in 1969, this independent crime comedy was somewhat ahead of its time. Strangely, although it is great, none of the studios at the time picked it up for distribution, and so the director never released it until 1989, when movies like it were totally out of style. The film clocks in at an hour twenty despite its rich and intricate plot, due to its unusually fast pace and density. Blink and you'll miss some of Harry's ironic twists of fate. Deadpan humor meets touching realism.
