The Place

An Italian drama I almost skipped tonight, because I wasn't sure I was up for watching anything demanding and then it turned out to be totally amazing. Come for the "but is s/he really going to go through with?!", stay for how the different plot threads get woven together. And Valerio Mastandrea is just great as the central character who in the beginning seems like a demonic entity, but is gradually revealed to be more of a tired bureaucrat caught in the same inhumane system as the victims.

Interesting and Mysterious, but not a Comedy whatsoever.
