The Pirates

Like many Korean films this movie suffers from having drastic tonal shifts. The film opens with the introduction to the two main leads, the female pirate, whose introduction is handled in a straight forward action tone, and the male bandit, whose introduction was bleak, dark and dramatic. And then here is where the problems start. The bandit from the second introduction on is played almost completely for laughs, the pirate character stays pretty much complete straight laced for the entire film. [Full review]

A fun, eventful adventure of thieves and pirates! Beautiful CGI and camera work, awesome costumes, fast pace (what is unusual for korean movies tbh) - aaaand I am sold. Fun movie to watch with a bowl of popcorn and a relaxed attitude.
