I'm gonna go out of the hate box and say, not as bad as everyone says. Nothing that is truly as good as the original, but if you are a fan of physical comedy then you must realize that Martin does it well and Jean Reno plays a good straightman. I do agree this didn't need to be made and really is nothing more than slapstick.

Very poor attempt at reviving a very poor cinematic franchise. Seen in this light, this movie and its makers have few excuses.

In most respects, it is quite a departure from the original films. The humor is far less subtle and not as well delivered, but much of that can be attributed to the fact that, though he is a solid comedic actor, Steve Martin is no Peter Sellers, and the film is clearly aimed at an audience with a shorter attention span. Much of the awkward translation humor are semi-intact, and much of the physical humor is strong as well, which helps the overall entertainment value. Meh!

Amusingly silly slapstick comedy could never compare to Sellers/Edwards' iconic work (and Levy's staging of slapstick gags especially lacks Edwards' shameless go-for-broke attitude); tasked with a near impossible job, Martin does a serviceable enough imitation of the original, but (surprisingly) Kline never manages to capture Lom's manic energy, seeming content to play Dreyfus as hapless straight-man, which means he almost disappears into the background at times. Still passably diverting.

No one is blind to this movies faults. I on the other hand was very impressed by its ability to use slapstick to make me laugh at a modern film. Steve Martin is reliably funny and his accent is outrageous. All said and done, I laughed several times. Which is more than most more mature comedies can say.

It's all mimicry, like a sketch stretched out to 90 minutes. The 'hamburger' stuff is all painful and most of the scenes play out without any inspiration. Kline as Dreyfus especially plays him almost straight and without anything to make the character stand-out.

I'm a big fan of Peter Sellers and I love the Pink Panther films. Every time I watch them, I laugh as hard as I did the first time I saw them. That being said, it's for this reason that I watch the 2006 reboot of the franchise starring Steve Martin as the iconic Inspector Jacques Clouseau. However, I'm a big Steve Martin fan as well--I mean the guy was one of my biggest influences to become a stand up comedian when I was a kid--so I was conflicted.

Though I admit I have yet to see the originals, I still feel that this remake is unfairly panned and that Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau is as lovable as any of his most charming characters. Willingly as goofy as possible, The Pink Panther never fails to put me in a great mood where I'm susceptible to laugh at any of the ridiculous slapstick. One of the very few good family comedies.

The biggest problem here lies in the fact that Steve Martin comedy is different then Peter Sellers/Blake Edwards'. Most of the jokes are forced and go on way too long (i.e. the hamburger schtick) but there are still some genuinely funny moments (i.e. the wallpaper camouflage). Ironically the funniest parts are delivered by Jean reno and Emily Mortimer. And how can anyone HATE a movie that kills off Jason Statham in the first two minutes?

I thought the movie was decently funny, but doesn't come near the old Pink Panther movies. Steve Martin goes a bit over-the-top with the performance, trying too hard to be "wacky." He's more like a cartoon character than a real person. Like I said, it's funny enough, and I wouldn't reject it as part of the Pink Panther series, but it's just less charming than the older ones. More forgettable.

Only watched about 20 minutes of the original Pink Panther, but it didn't get its hooks in me. Expected this to be a trainwreck but wound up finding it alarmingly--seriously, I shouldn't have laughed at half of the stuff I laughed at--funny. Jean Reno's involvement probably made me more accepting of the film, but yeah, I actually thought it was hilarious.

This remake of the 1963 Peter Sellers movie did the series justice. With the same slapstick elements pulled off justifiably comically, Steve Martin portrays Clouseau in an admirable light. Maintaining the original plot and modernising it is no mean feat, but one that is strung together with the right concoction of comedy and crime. An enjoyable movie.

The accent gag needed to just simply die. It wasn't funny and it was beaten to death. There were a few funny jokes, most of which involve Jean Reno who isn't even cast as the comedic star, but most of the time they're just shallow, mind-numbing, slap-stick that simply isn't funny. For better or for worse (probably for the better because I don't know how good the originals can be), I haven't seen the original Pink Panther movies but I know they have to be better than this one. Pretty poor.
