In 1993, I rented "Groundhog Day" and saw the trailer for "The Pickle". My brothers and I were dumbfounded by this R-rated movie with a giant, flying gherkin. But, aside from that trailer, we never found any shred of evidence such a movie existed and questioned whether we had imagined it. After 20 years, I finally acquired a copy. Like Ahab, I had confronted my elusive, great green whale amid a briny sea of pickle juice. My victory was anything but sweet - mostly sour and kind of salty.
