Clooney aka’s as a cliche yippee ki-yay yank who makes his own rules alongside his partner Kidman who aka’s as a snotty white female intellectual who can defuse complex explosive devices, but squeals at loud bangs, squealing tyres and can’t wear a seatbelt properly during a high speed car chase. This movie is about as tense as me putting corn kernels on the stove and lighting the burner: there’ll be some bangs and a bit of a show, but nothing amazing.

Above-average thriller which juxtaposes a pair of polished white American go-getters against lots of grimy, downtrodden Russian/Balkan terrorists for maximum effect. This is Clooney's shot at a Bond movie, complete with globe-trotting, guns, and his own seductive charm. Meanwhile Kidman plays the eye-candy for the male audience. Leder keeps a good pace and level of tension, and while the ending is too implausible, it's one of the more memorable action movies with its unique style and flavour.

A Bond film as if written by Tom Clancy - told in a suspiciously complicated and convoluted way to give it a veneer of sophistication, this is at heart an old-fashioned, star driven actioner; Clooney and Kidman are both rock solid and authoritative here, keeping the film on track as it gets more complex (and silly) towards the finale. Leder directs her action sequences well, eliciting tension from the most timeworn suspense situations (overwrought it may be, the finale is undeniably exciting!)

Plenty of plot holes and a messy final act but I still liked this more than most 90s American action films. Clooney and Kidman are charming enough (perhaps overbearingly so) and the train hijacking scene is still great after all these years. Heavily influenced by Tom Clancy's popularity at the time. Mimi Leder was ahead of her time as an action film director. Too bad Hollywood railroaded her after Pay It Forward.

I've watched and enjoyed many brainless action movies in my life, but it was as if I couldn't get into this one for most of it. Still some interesting scenes but that was about it

From what I vaguely recall from watching this 20+ years ago it was decently entertaining. Nothing out of the ordinary from the sub-genre, but well acted and well made.

The Peacemaker isn't much better or worse than the average James Bond movie, except, of course, that it doesn't have the cars, the gadgets, the girls, or Bond himself. The movie is likely to keep an audience's attention. As the debut feature of a new production company, it isn't likely to be an unmitigated failure, but neither will it prove to be a stunning financial success. Despite all the bullets, bodies, and bangs, Dreamworks is not off to a flying start.

clooney is a cocky colonel with maverick attitudes and kidman's a stuck up smart gal, who can disassemble nuclear bombs. you may now make your peace with your raging desire to puke.

Standard military/terrorism-themed thriller plot, with extraordinary execution. The level of intensity on display here is an example for all the slow-paced "action" movies that have been released since 2000. The 90s truly were a golden age for the genre.

I generally find Kidman annoying, and am not a huge Clooney fan, so I'm biased going into it. Fairly predictable / clichéed action flick. There's better stuff out there to watch.

Pleasant enough for a short while to view the two leads seemingly enjoying each other's company. Then the absurdity engulfs all else.

Good action scenes are set in the midst of a confusing, barely believable yarn, which yields diminishing results as one climax after another piles up.

Not as suave as Bond, nor as contrived as the Devinci Code but has a feel of both. A tired plot line (think Ocopussy without the clowns) but fair pace and workman like performance. It seems a popular film to malign and I believe that's unfair. It's not going to be a must see but it's a decent thriller.

Run-of-the-mill action with Clooney and Kidman. The plot and concept are very tired and cliche, but there are some adequate performances on show. Ultimately however it is all too standard and boring to be of any substance.

Nicole (brain) attached to telecommunication device with George (brawn) attached to 45 are cute enough. Takes more than a passing interest in faceless fatalities making the violence strong stuff. More than enough room for editing though, almost everything with the sad faced terrorist can go, and the deathly slow opening credits (sweeping grandiose soundtrack) and plotpiddling about, scenes are just that much too long, which breaks the tension.

A standard "nuclear device must be retrieved from the terrorists" movie. Clooney is entertaining and so is Kidman but there's really nothing great here. It's an action movie with lots of running around and not a lot of action action.
